Oddsmakers are once again expecting a tight battle in the 2019 NBA Finals, installing Toronto as a slight, two-point favorite for Game 2. The wiseguys have been all over the Raptors out of the gate, pushing the line from its opening mark of TOR +1 to its current position. The same thing happened prior to Game 1’s tip, when Golden State began as road chalk but closed as a narrow underdog due to a deluge of smart money on the Eastern Conference champions.

The sharps had it right on Thursday, but will they nail it again tonight? The public certainly doesn’t believe so, as over two-thirds (67%) of tickets and cash (69%) of bets are on the Warriors to cover the spread in Game 2. The total for this game is currently set at 214 points after getting bet down from an opening position of 215.5 points. That line shifted down despite 69% of the public wagers and 58% of money being wagered on the over.

Toronto head coach Nick Nurse praised the impact that Stephen Curry has had on the game of basketball and discussed the challenge of defending the Golden State star:

I call him a transformational player. He’s got kids all over the world shooting from 40 feet away. I think even as you’ve seen the three-point shot become so rapidly used in the last three or four years, a lot of that is because of Golden State and Steph and Klay and some of the other guys, KD, the other guys they have. Now you’re seeing quickly the league start to shoot six and eight feet behind the line pretty regularly. You didn’t see that maybe even a couple years ago. So I think he has transformed the way people view the three-pointer, the distance of the three-pointer as well.
